Hi all , i need help on a issue , is about is it must to install font for barcode printing in HP unix 11.31 ia64? it yes , how to go about ? please advice , thanks.

Hello James,

If you can see the contents of the document on your x-display/putty, then there is no need to install Fonts.
All you need is correct printer drivers for 11.31 which can interpret and print the documents.

For bar coding, we used zebra software, very good and easy to program and you can create any barcodes

After generating the bar coad file you can open this file using "vi" itself.

the issue, besides displaying, is that you may need "barcode fonts" for the printer, and that's printer specific.

some printers support optional, downloaded barcode fonts, others require cartridges / memory sticks.

This is What I used to do
zebra codes are all combination of escape characters.

in PC where zebra was installed
1) Using the zebra manual create escape sequences for creating the bar code
2) ftp to unix

in hpux
1) dos2ux pc-file to hpuxfile
2) print using lp cmd

logn time ago, If i recall we did everything in
hpux. I will try to dig out if i have that and then i will reply to this post if i find.

Hi Basheer, can i say , it should not require any extra of font to perform bar code printing in hp unix , is really a printer dependable issue , am i right ?
