Shalom,

Ignite images can be hosted on any NFS device.

An ignite server must be set up to permit the restoration from these images.

Guide:
http://www.docs.hp.com/en/5992-5309/ch04s03.html

SEP

It is the other way around. That the ignite server should find out the ignite client. This depends one what kind ignite server is. If it is PA-RISC, then need to modify file /etc/opt/ignite/instl_boottab. As for Itanium server, file /etc/bootptab need to be modified.

you mean - nothing needs to be created in boot option - when client is rebooted.Just adding th eclient info in ingnite servers /etc/bootptab suffice?
thanks

That is right. When booting up the client, pick up the booting option, then chose lan (or something like that) to boot it up. You need to read the doc carefully, as there is a lot of details things need to be done.

A simpler method might be to use the dbprofile option of the servers EFI to direct boot from an ignite server.

e.g.

from EFI shell.
dbprofile -dn IUX â cip CLIENT_IP -sip IUX_SERVER_IP -gip GATEWAY_IP -m MASK -b "/opt/ignite/boot/nbp.efiâ

Then

lanboot -s -dn IUX

Using dbprofile will negate the need for the Ignite server to assign DHCP which is not possible accross lan subnet or won't work if there is another DHCP server on the same subnet.

Note: If dbprofile is not a valid command from EFI shell then you need to update your firmware.

lanboot select -dn <DBPROFILE> works on itanium.

for pa-risc you need use a boot helper cd/tape or boot lan.ip.addr.iux and configure the instl_boottab on the IUX server.

I believe Navin is using IA.

</DBPROFILE>
