      <description>Hi admins,&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;I want to reboot my server,which consists raw files under /dev/vg_rac.Should i take any precautions for these before going to reboot.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Quick response is highly appreciated..&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;regards,&lt;BR /&gt;himacs</description>

      <description>&amp;gt; raw FS&lt;BR /&gt; &lt;BR /&gt;There really isn't anything like that. Every logical volume starts as a raw device. You might use it as a swap area, or run newfs to create a filesystem in it, or it might be used by a database such as Sybase, Informix or Oracle as a raw partition. So when you reboot, you MUST shutdown any processes that use this area. If you randomly kill any of those processes, especially kill -9, you will likely corrupt the raw volume.&lt;BR /&gt; &lt;BR /&gt;And you'll need a good raw volume backup program so you can restore the volume when it is corrupted or destroyed.</description>
