i only had hpux1123_FEATURES.tar in this directory then i ran tar -xvf hpux1123_FEATURES.tar and i got all these other files... Then i ran create depot.. Now my question is whats next..
Wich depot i should run swinstall against.

FEATURE11i_B.11.23.0809.073.depot
or
PHCO_38989.depot

Hi Mr.Khan,
You can do a
# swlist -l depot

to see if create_depot script has created some unique depot with the feature 11i + the other patches.

Then you can run a swinstall on that depot.

# swinstall -s

If you are after installing the FEATURES pack, it is best you run this :

swinstall -s /depot/features/FEATURE11i_B.11.23.0809.073.depot

if this is not your intention, you need to let us know what you want to accomplish and you will receive more precise instructions.

I downloaded the bundles from itrc....
And now i am trying to install them.....

I think you should run:

# swinstall -s /depot/features/depot

which is what created by create_depot_hpux.11.2

Tingli is exactly right.

The depot that is located at /depot/features/depot contains EVERYTHING that you want to install. It is a combination of FEATURE11i_B.11.23.0809.073.depot and PHCO_38989.depot.

As said above, the /depot/features/depot is what the create_depot_hpux.11.23 script creates thus allowing you to install ALL patches at once and, if a reboot is required, just reboot once.

when i do a swinstall i get
BUNDLE -> B.2009.05.21 Patch Bundle
FEATURE11i -> B.11.23.0809. Feature Enablement Patch

now these are two different options i get under /depot/features/depot... So, do i install them one by one or just one of them.......

Mark both for install at the same time and install it.

how do u mark both at the same time in swinstall gui.... i mean i have marked one by getting the cursor on it and pressing enter but how do i mark two entries.....

If you are in interactive mode, using arrow key can highlight the product. Type in m to mark it. Then you can move to next product. After they are market, you can start the installation.

swinstall -x patch_match_target=true -x autoreboot=true -s /depot/features/depot \*
