Memroy Usage Discrepancy with Glance and swapinfo

Hi all,

I just set up a new Itanium server and Oralce is running on it, OEM shows memory usage is 98% so is Glance, but swapinfo shows only 30% usage. which one is telling the truth. The server has 32GB of memory, is oracle just a hog and it is using 98% of the memory? Any insight would be appreciated.

Some time Glance is not refreshing the old page, what about top, vmstat shows ?

What is the OS version? Do you have all the patches installed? Can you post the respective outputs here?

hi,

glance show real physical memory usage for the current time. but swapinfo talks about virtual memory usage(physical+swap)

Take a look at:

it explains the output of the swapinfo command.

The server has 11.23 installed and vmstat shows normal memory usage more inline with swapinfo and top is more like glance.

i will trust on vmstat before rebooting,
i believe if you will reboot once should see same status for glance / top / vmstat, thanks,
