After we replace with a new unit, the backup jobs start failing with the above error message. When I check the device list in SAM, I do see the autoloader(SCSI ID 5) and the Ultrium 460 external drive(SCSI ID 3). When I try to scan slot 1 by using the DP, again received the same I/O error message.
