    <description>Dear Gurus,&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;I saw some errors in rc.log .........&lt;BR /&gt;Start multicast routing daemon&lt;BR /&gt;Output from "/sbin/rc2.d/S490mrouted start":&lt;BR /&gt;----------------------------&lt;BR /&gt;/sbin/rc2.d/S490mrouted[39]: Syntax error at line 4 : `(' is not expected.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Start Internet services daemon&lt;BR /&gt;Output from "/sbin/rc2.d/S500inetd start":&lt;BR /&gt;----------------------------&lt;BR /&gt;/sbin/rc2.d/S500inetd[38]: Syntax error at line 4 : `(' is not expected.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Start dynamic routing daemon&lt;BR /&gt;Output from "/sbin/rc2.d/S510gated start":&lt;BR /&gt;----------------------------&lt;BR /&gt;/sbin/rc2.d/S510gated[38]: Syntax error at line 4 : `(' is not expected.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;after i had restored the box with ignite tape.&lt;BR /&gt;also the inetd is not coing up ..&lt;BR /&gt;# /sbin/init.d/inetd start&lt;BR /&gt;/sbin/init.d/inetd[38]: Syntax error at line 4 : `(' is not expected.&lt;BR /&gt;#&lt;BR /&gt;could you please suggest what i can check for ......&lt;BR /&gt;Regards ,&lt;BR /&gt;Rahul &lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;</description>

      <description>Hi:&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;You probably have a bogus file in the '/etc/rc.config.d' directory. You can keep backup copies of files here _ONLY_ if you follow the rules documented in '/etc/rc.config'.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;One way to expose the problem is to do:&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;# sh -vx /etc/rc.config 2&amp;gt;&amp;amp;1|more&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;The actual filename will appear as 'fname=' in the traced output with clear syntax errors like you have seen.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Regards!&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;...JRF...</description>
