APA function

My doubt is like, if i am configuring the APA 900(ie lan900 with lan0 and lan1). Here the physical ip will be configure in lan0. so i need to change in /etc/rc.config.d/netconf file to edit that to lan900. Explain how the failover happens.

APA creates new interfaces lan900 and such.

Its all part of the installation procedure and instead of try and pull from my own memory which has proven to be very unreliable lately, I present you a document.

because ports aggregated with HP APA share a single, logical MAC address, there is no need to assign individual addresses to aggregated ports.

I haven' edited the file /etc/rc.config.d/hp_apaconf. I just entered the config in /etc/rc.config.d/hp_apaportconf and /etc/lanmon/lanconfig.ascii file and restarted the processes..

So I want to know, this is correct procedure I followed. Even i am not getting any error and lanscan output shows that lan900 is up..

I respond:

Well its working, that is a good sign your procedure is valid. The only thing I would want to know is if the configuration is permanent and would work after a system reboot.

I guess, the entry was there in /etc/rc.config.d/.. so it will persist even after reboot...

I guess so as well.

I think it prudent however to conduct a planned reboot test on any changes made to network configuration.

This is because when I have neglected that test, fate has done the test for me at a time very inconvenient.
