Hi all:

HPUX 11.31 on rp7420 hardware.
Built from scratch, not an upgrade.

I did a swinstall for Apr 2009 patch bundle over this last weekend. All went well. At the end of the process the dialog boxes came up saying that the kernel will build & system will reboot. Checked the IPD and ran check_patches, no errors. Ran swlist -l fileset -a state and all are in configured state, including the patches from the bundle. Now, when I issue the kconfig -w command I get the response "# kconfig -w
* The currently running configuration was created on Thu Mar 12
13:28:42 2009 by root from /stand/system.
* It has not been saved.
* It was last modified on Fri Sep 25 21:18:15 2009 by root.
* The configuration 'post_patching' has been marked for use at
next boot."
Checking the /stand/vmunix file shows same size and time stamp from Mar 12.

Huh? What gives?

After the installation was complete the dialog box appeared and said the kernel would be built and the server rebooted. Question is, why did swinstall not place the new kernel in /stand/post_patching and boot from the new kernel? I have made the correction using kconfig from command line but it seems odd the swinstall did not do it.

# mk_kernel -o post_patching -s /stand/system -v
# kconfig -n post_patching

Yes - "Your local system will be rebooted when you press "OK" in this window. Check the logfile swagent.log after reboot to see if any software config problems:/ Checked the swagent.log file and there were no problems - all were verified.
