Hi,
If you think about mirroring through the net, it is not possible with HP MirrorDisk/UX.
Brando,

While I'm not sure if HP's mirrordisk can do this, I know that Veritas' Foundation Suite software can when installed on an HP box.

-Tim

Hi again,

This it not possible unless you connected those disks on the same scsi chain, or you make use of an NAS device like EMC or XP.

What you can do is make use of ignite tapes for vg00 and fbackup for other logical volumes.

export the filesystem using NFS and importing it and use dd to copy it to an other disk can be done but i would not advice it.

Yust make sure you have prober backups..

Gideon
I am almost 100% certain the HPs MirrorDisk/UX product will NOT do this.

If you happen to have an XP type array, then I think there is software that will do something similar.

Brando,
I have never tried what you are proposing, however, I would tend to say no. Only because mirroring in HPUX is accomplished inside of the vg. I may be corrected, we'll see...

C

You can try "rsync", but it's not mirroring at the disk level.

http://hpux.tn.tudelft.nl/hppd/hpux/Networking/Admin/rsync-2.4.6/

live free or die
harry
