vmstat: wrong CPU utilization

Hello Gurus,

vmstat and sar are reporting different CPU utilization. Obviously vmstat is wrong.

But, i am not able to figure what is wrong. Am i missing some patch

The OS is 11iv1

PHCO_25979 has defect desriptions that match what you are seeing, but it's a _very_ old patch - if you don't have it you don't patch very often!

vmstat(1) reports wrong values for CPU percentages: user time 'us', system time 'sy' and idle time 'id'.

The patch is not installed on the server.

Yes it is not frequently patched.

I hope once the server is properly patched the issue will get resolved.
