In addition you have to copy /tcb to the new system. That's where all the details about the user accounst are.

I have a new system (HP-UX 11.23) built and would like to know if I can copy the password or shadow file from one system to the new system. Or do I have to create all users and passwords from scratch. Both systems are in trusted mode.

Hi,

First, it s better to copy only passwd and group files, after these you can create shadow file with "pwconv" which is more reliable.

But there may be a problem about user's home directories, you may have to create them on the destination. If there is not so much user on your system it is better to create all users and passwords from beginning..
