    <description>&amp;gt;&amp;gt;my file sytem 94% full &lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;/dev/vg00/lvol3 1015808 956984 58400 94% /&amp;lt;&amp;lt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;You can't extend / root file system , becoz its contiguous.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;so we need find out why /94 %&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;please can you try couple of things&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Need to check any core files created ?&lt;BR /&gt;=====================================&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;cd /&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;ll core*&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;look for file large files create&lt;BR /&gt;==================================&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;find / -xdev -type f -size +5000000c -exec ll {} \; | sort -nk 5&lt;BR /&gt;</description>

      <description>vgdisplay show &lt;BR /&gt;Space Available in Volume Group (Mbytes): 143552&lt;BR /&gt;when I try to increase dev/vg00/lvol3 volume i got following error &lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;lvextend: Not enough free physical extents available.&lt;BR /&gt;Logical volume "/dev/vg00/lvol3" could not be extended&lt;BR /&gt;Failure possibly caused by contiguous allocation policy.&lt;BR /&gt;Failure possibly caused by strict allocation policy</description>

      <description>bdf /dev/vg00/lvol3 ? -&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;why do you need to increase ?&lt;BR /&gt;looks like are you trying to extend / file system ?&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;You can't do that you need use Ignite option to  increase the / file system</description>

      <description>Hello Asif,&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;we can not increase root fs easily, and I can see, your root fs is near to 1 gig and it quite ok, what you need to do, just check core/crash files if it is there then remove it first, there is few things which you need to remember:- check if /var is not a seperate fs, then search under&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;#/var/adm&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;and move any unwanted files from there,&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;# find / -xdev -size +1000 -exec ll {} \;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;and go with Johnson`s thread that will be quite helpfull for your issue.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Regards,&lt;BR /&gt;Rahul Rai.</description>

      <description>hi &lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;   LV Name                     /dev/vg00/lvol4&lt;BR /&gt;   LV Status                   available/syncd&lt;BR /&gt;   LV Size (Mbytes)            15360&lt;BR /&gt;   Current LE                  480&lt;BR /&gt;   Allocated PE                960&lt;BR /&gt;   Used PV                     2&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;   --- Physical volumes ---&lt;BR /&gt;   PV Name                     /dev/dsk/c0t0d0s2&lt;BR /&gt;   PV Status                   available&lt;BR /&gt;   Total PE                    4346&lt;BR /&gt;   Free PE                     2243&lt;BR /&gt;   Autoswitch                  On&lt;BR /&gt;   Proactive Polling           On&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;   PV Name                     /dev/dsk/c0t2d0s2&lt;BR /&gt;   PV Status                   available&lt;BR /&gt;   Total PE                    4346&lt;BR /&gt;   Free PE                     2243&lt;BR /&gt;   Autoswitch                  On&lt;BR /&gt;   Proactive Polling           On&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;you can do a pvmove of the lvol4(15360MB) to move that to the available that is 32*2243 MB, once that done you can increase the /dev/vg00/lvol3 that is root LV as that needs to have contiguous free space behind that to faclilitate the extension.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;take the system to the LVM maintenance mode,&lt;BR /&gt;do &lt;BR /&gt;pvmove -n /dev/vg00/lvol4&lt;BR /&gt;lvextend -L NEW_SIZE_in_MB_should_be_less_than_or_equla_to_present_size_of_lvol3+15360MB /dev/vg00/lvol3.&lt;BR /&gt;extendfs /dev/vg00/rlvol3.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Ensure that you have an Ignite of the system available before performing the same.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;regards&lt;BR /&gt;sujit</description>
