    <description>i have a mirrored boot disk, and i wish to replace a failed disk. &lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;first, i reduce all logical volume by typing:&lt;BR /&gt;lvreduce -m 0 /dev/vg00/lvolX /dev/dsk/C1t15d0&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;after that i receive the following error when i reduve the volume group:&lt;BR /&gt;"vgreduce: physical volume could not be removed since some of its physical extents are still in use"&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;can y help me to resolve the problem!!!&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;</description>

      <description>&amp;gt;&amp;gt;"vgreduce: physical volume could not be removed since some of its physical extents are still in use&amp;lt;&amp;lt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;It means you have still have some more(lvolXX) &lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;vgdisplay -v /dev/vg00 |more -&amp;gt; output will be helpfull</description>

      <description>I have reduce all logical volume from 1 to 8, execpt one logical volume:&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;/dev/vg00/u01 &lt;BR /&gt;lv status :available/syncd&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;it is necessary to reduce this logical volume "u01"</description>

      <description>so you know your problem, how can you reduce a &lt;PV&gt; if any logical volume exist inside ?&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;i would assume you told me earlier you are replacing mirror boot disk,&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;so you have too.. dude -&amp;gt; are you worried about the data ? you no need to worry if you have already properly mirror /u01 file system on your &lt;PRI-DISK&gt;&lt;/PRI-DISK&gt;&lt;/PV&gt;</description>

      <description>Hi,&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;do&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;pvmove -n /dev/vg00/u01  /dev/dsk/c1t15d0 /dev/dsk/cxtxdx&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;change /dev/dsk/cxtxdx with your correct disk in the volume group.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;then try lvreduce.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Regards,&lt;BR /&gt;Aneesh&lt;BR /&gt;</description>

      <description>&amp;gt;&amp;gt;vreduce: "MirrorCopies" parameter "0" is not smaller than existing number "0";&lt;BR /&gt;herefore no mirrors are removed.&amp;lt;&amp;lt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;I hope someone  have extend space for /u01 -&amp;gt;by using you mirror disk (PV)&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;so meaning the /u01 -&amp;gt; file system logical volume exists on your mirror disk also&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Options :-&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;you can try "as per above post" pvmove&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;hopefully you should  have Free PE on "pri-boot disk"&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;</description>

      <description>Why make life hard?&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Why not follow the official procedures?&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;A href="http://docs.hp.com/en/5991-1236/When_Good_Disks_Go_Bad_WP.pdf" target="_blank"&gt;http://docs.hp.com/en/5991-1236/When_Good_Disks_Go_Bad_WP.pdf&lt;/A&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;There is no need to "un-mirror" the bad disk, a "pvchange -a n ..." is the way to go.</description>
