I know Charles a little... as far as I know, he isn't planning another book, but I can go ask him directly if you like...

A few years ago I thought about having a blast at writing a HPUX book myself, but I was pretty much put off by some conversations I had with other technical authors... basically its a lot of work and pain for virtually no reward - the problem is these days that the books get ripped off and turned into pirated PDFs so quickly that almost no-one buys them any more - witness how many times you get folks on the forums asking for pirated copies (and this is on a HP site!)

Yup, same story here.
Been asked twice, but after conversations with various HP personnell, decided I didn't need the additional stress for little return.
I do not believe Charles is planning any updates either

Hello all,

I am currently in "negotiations" with various parts of HP about an update for The Book... I have been chasing this for over 2 years but now it seems the "Solaris Attack" program and the HP TS Certification Program may "benefit" from a desk reference/study guide giving delegates some real-world examples/demos of how to use HPUX 11iv3... A lot has changed in HPUX since Edition 1 so the list of things to include is forever getting longer..! I fired off some more emails this week to Suzanne LaForge, Iris young and some bods in HP Education/Certification to try and get their buy-in... All I am asking for is a bit of logistical and managerial support to do the updates... Yes, it's a lot of hard work for not a lot of gain but (stupidly) I agree with Duncan's sentiments (in a separate discussion) that we - HP - make fantastic products but we don't seem to want to tell/show our customers what they can do..! Still sounds like the olde Bill-n-Dave HP when we make great "stuff" but don't know how to sell it..! If I manage to pull this off I will need some technical editors to assist..! And like the last time - Melvyn - the rewards are vast..! Maybe a free copy of the book (WooooooooW!!)... I'll let you know how things work out..!

I am still reading Charles's book , and I still find it very useful for every people. I really appreciate that it is very hard task to complete a book about continuosly growing up technology.
I want to buy new CSE book in future, I hope Charles will announce in the forum.

Charles,

You book had a great impact on my life and career.

Its great. I lugged it from Israel to Toledo Ohio for my current job assignment.

I know its a hassle to do an update, and HP should provide you with more support.

But I wanted you to know how much I liked it, and how often I recommended it on the forums.
