OK, no VGA.

Get the "M" or "W" cable and connect your console to the "console" port. You should get the GSP prompt now. Do a "co" to get the console. Does this work?

Hi All,
My root password expired over the weekend. When I came in this morning, I couldn't log on as root. I have the old password but can't get in to change it. When I use the web console, I just get a black screen with a little yellow triangle containing an ! at the top right. I have also connected a console to the back of the server but just have a blank screen there as well. I can log on to the server with my username but unfortunately, I don't have root access. Is there anyway of resetting the console card - its internal at the back of the server. Other than that, I will have to reboot tonight. Any help appreciated.

Tim

Thanks, Sujit

You pointed me in the right direction. I found another console cable connected to an old HP server & now I'm getting the logon prompt. However, when I try to log in as root I get this message - account is disabled but console login is allowed.

Tim

Thanks to all who replied. I've assigned points. It's the first time I've used the pound (£) symbol in the password & definitely the last time. We have a policy, enforced by our auditors, of changing the password every 30 days so the pound happened to be the next symbol on the keyboard I used.
Again, thanks to all. I will reboot tonight.

Thanks,

Tim
