You can try to disable the CPU at the firmware level as follows:
- Access the system console and reboot the system.
- Interrupt the boot process and access the BCH Main Menu.
- Switch to the COnfiguration Menu.
- Run the 'CPU' command to view the config. Run 'CPU 2 OFF' to deconfigure the CPU (CPU 2 in this example).

However, if the reason you are looking to deconfigure the CPU is because it is giving you hardware problems, this may not work out for you and you will have to pull it as previously suggested.

-Bob

10.01?!? Not even 10.20? Not that it would change the "need to do it from firmware" answer but 10.01 wasn't meant to be anything at all like a long term release.

At this point, 15+ years on, no, I'm not sure :) But the fuzzy memories in my wetware was that that with all the Y2K business, and whatnot that there was at least a non-trivial push to get folks onto 10.20 from earlier 10.mumble releases

Hello,
on the K420 I would be inclined to go with pulling the unwanted processor card.

We ran 10.01 on an I class for several years.
until it needed more power and became a K420.
and got dragged up to 10.20 on th back of the y2k excuse .

Mike
