    <description>I would second the suggestion to use iozone.  I would add though that you should try to arrive at some idea of what your actual I/O patterns look like.  A complete benchmark is a combination of the ability to generate load, and knowing what load to generate :)</description>

      <description>not exactly a script, but&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;A href="http://www.iozone.org/" target="_blank"&gt;http://www.iozone.org/&lt;/A&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;is a freely available program that tests disk/io.  I've used it to diagnose issues w/ NFS mounts.  it can provice a file that you place in excel for graphing&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;</description>
