How to do the kernel reconfiguration in hp-ux 11.31, can we access the kcweb in the in the same port as like 11.23 in 1188 port number.

2. How can we able to access the SMH in 11.31,

Shalom,

shm has an interface for making kernel changes. Its actually scraped out of sam.

Log in as root and type:

smh

you can access smh in web browser at port 2301 or 2381 depending upon the options stated or the starting of smh

If the kernel parameter is "static" (Dynamic: NO), then yes you must rebuild the kernel and reboot the system.

Check first "Kernal parameter value does it require reboot or not

Example :-

# kctune -v dbc_max_pct
Tunable dbc_max_pct
Description Maximum percentage of memory to be used for caching file I/O data and metadata
Module fs
Current Value 50 [Default]
Value at Next Boot 50 [Default]
Value at Last Boot 50
Default Value 50
Constraints dbc_max_pct >= 1
dbc_max_pct <= 90
dbc_max_pct >= dbc_min_pct
Can Change Immediately or at Next Boot

I hope what I am about to say will come across well, cause I mean to help.

But...if you do not know the commands to change a kernel parm, then how would you know what to change that parm value to?
If you do not understand the ramifications of changing a parm to a 'bad' value you could cripple your server.

Please....before you learn how to change a parm; learn first what the parm does, what it affects, etc. Learn when to make a parm larger or smaller to make things work better.

Hi,

You can do the kernel tuning in many ways.

Just type kcweb and enter will direct to there you need to. But ensure that you have a good ignite backup before you do any changes.

For accessing SMH , just type sam and enter.

Accessing server through the IE ,
