Assuming you are referring to local disk only.

You need to find out whether your server have hardware mirror or raid. If it is not, then you can check your lvm to see whether the file system is mirrored. With the disks either hardware or software mirrored or raided, then you have a chance to hot swap the disk.

Hi,
As per me there is no command to find out disk is hotswapable or not.

You can do iocan and get disk details and go to vendor site and type the details of disk you get the information like disk hot swappable or not.

Physically viewing the disk (without disconnecting)can be conformed.
Hot swappable disk always connected to disk bay or encloser where non hotswapable will normally directly connected to cabel

No command as such but the disk type, array type and other related information may conclude if disk is hot swappable or not.

BR,
Kapil+

Some Raid Controllers will have a utility that can be installed or comes installed upond driver installation. You may want to check the output of ioscan and look at the description for your Raid controller. Then try searching /opt for any relevant raid utilities. I knoow I have a SAS raid controller in one of my systems and I have a utility that enables me to view specific Raid config data. Just a thought...

Regards,

HP-UX Admin
there is no such command to achive it.
as to the os you mentioned,10.20 and 11.00, the boxes should be some old models, i think these models mostly have their disk not hot swapable.
