SNMP problems

Out of a batch of HP-UX boxes, I've got 5 that don't respond to snmp requests.

I've confirmed that snmpd is running:

# ps -ef | grep snmpd
root 26856 1 0 14:26:04 ? 0:00 /usr/sbin/snmpdm

And the snmpd.conf is the same across all the servers:

get-community-name: public

I've tried restarting the service. I've run nmap against the port to show that it's open. I'm not sure what to check next.

I've looked at the /var/adm/snmpd.log, but I've not been able to determine the problem based on messages contained within: Here is the tail of the log:

I'm seeing the exact same problem on an HP-UX server that we've had for a few years. Another thread mentions recreating the /etc/SnmpAgent.d/snmpd.conf file by copying the the template /usr/newconfig/etc/SnmpAgent.d/snmpd.conf and editing the copy, but I've tried this and it makes no difference.

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated!
