The old database may still be there form the previous installation. Do the two steps in the 4th reply from the bottom in
http://forums11.itrc.hp.com/service/forums/questionanswer.do?threadId=641446

The DeviceDBFile is not part of the fileset and does not get deleted during an swremove so you may be still using the old dbfile with the new install.

You should have two SDM server processes running, they are java jobs running out of /opt/sanmgr/jre/bin/PA_RISC2.0/java
Verify that they are running.

Check if there are any cvsdm errors in the sylog.

Ensure that there were no errors when you swinstall-ed cvsdm

If all else fails, uninstall both cvsdm server and client, *delete* the /opt/sanmgr directory tree and reinstall the cvsdm server and client.

This error could also be the result of java requesting a large shared memory segment and the server does not have enough contiguous memory to allocate one.
This error may be totally different than the original error, in this case, java can't start up, the original error was that you could not see the disks.

You could try starting the dialer service again at a later time when the server activity is much less and possibly more memory is available.
