NFS Server (pid 759@/net) not responding.” error on HPUX

When you restart the HPUX server the following appears:

When the NFS client subsystem loads, it returns a 9
Then you get an error “ NFS Server (pid 759@/net) not responding.”

I have tried to boot from an alternate kennel but still get the same message.
I have also checked the NFS startup configuration file in /etc/rc.config.d/nfsconfig, the value for NFS_SERVER =”0”.

Any idea what this is all about?

Hi ,

Two differents idea

1) is the nfs client search to mount nfs file system ? Do you have some nfs file system configured ? What is the content of /etc/fstab ?

2) Error talk about of /net which is possible entry for /etc/auto_master . Do you use automount ?

check automountd is running or not you using the aotumount .

ps -ef |grep -i automountd

if not then start it
#/sbin/init.d/automountd stop/start

Hi,

This is because you have automount started at boot time. If you do not use automount you can change the variable in "/etc/rc.config.d/nfsconf"

AUTOMOUNT=0

You system will now boot properly.
