      <description>We have a HP-UX 11.0 system. When I execute ioscan -fn, system is hanging. Also&lt;BR /&gt;tape device is hanging. The output of ioscan -fu is given below;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;What is the meaning of SCAN state ?       <description>Can you remove the SCAN devices using&lt;BR /&gt;#rmsf -H &lt;HW path=""&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;and try running #ioscan -fn&lt;BR /&gt;#insf -e&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;/HW&gt;</description>

      <description>hi&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;run ioscan with -k and look for dmesg and syslog error.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;if possible post the latest logs.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;check do all vgs are activated&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;regards&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;MC</description>

      <description>ioscan got hung and process is gone to init.&lt;BR /&gt;need to reboot the machine.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;dont run anymore ioscan, pls reboot the machine and let us know.</description>

      <description>Rebooting is the only way to clear this. After rebooting do not run ioscan. Check the process listing and see if there is an ioscan that is already running and has not completed. The "SCAN" state is normal in some environments with a lot of SAN devices but it goes away within a couple of minutes. In your case with local devices it is not normal, there is something wrong in bus 10, this looks like the core i/o in a K-series server.</description>
