You can create a snapshot, present it to the server, use vgchgid and import it as a "new" VG in order to access the data.

Hi All,

We have a two node cluster, it has only two shared Vgs (vg01 and vg_rac). vg01 runs in exclusive mode and vg_rac is shared and available on both the nodes for RAC. All the disks within the VGs are mirrored (Mirror copies). We have the strategy that before upgrading our applications we split the mirror of vg00/vg01 and vg_rac so that we could rollback the system instatanlty.

Now, i am not sure how we can do the same in case of MSA 2000FC vdisks. Previously we were using MSA30.

Please advice.

Thanks in advance,

Regards,
Amit

Consider to create a clone of the disks using the MSA tools.

Hi Torsten,

Thanks for your reply,

Can you give some pointers to cloning??

That would be really great.

Thanks Again,

Amit

Hi Torsten,

We cant change the VG name as the system implementation dsnt allow to do that. We jus need the same type of mechanism (mirror and split) as we use before MSA 2000FC.

Also the document states that the snapshots and Volume copy features are licensed.

Regards,
Amit
