Hi,

AFAIK the system should recognize the new size of the LUN. Check this with the diskinfo command, one before and one after the expansion in the EVA. After the expansion, run an ioscan just to be sure...

Regards,
Viktor

Hi,

Our customer is runnnig ORACLE ASM 11g R2 under HPUX 11i V3 on Itanium server. THE ASM database is using 800GB raw device (/dev/rdisk/disk18) located on EVA4400 storage.
Now he wants us to expand the size of the raw device through EVA command view.
can someone tell me if the raw device will be enlarged under HPUX and the new size will be recognized under Oracle ASM without affecting data.

Thanks and Regards

Roger
On Linux we can:

enlarge EVA vdisk
perform SCSI scan on OS
fdisk to enlarge the partition used by ASM
DB instance is shut down
+ASM instance engine is restarted, Diskgroup is rescanned and free size validated
DB instance is started
space is available for tablespaces

I suggest you do a test yourselves.
