John,
dtlogin is the command that starts an X server and invokes the dtgreet login screen, you may want to start there. I have never tried to tunnel CDE through ssh so you should let us know how it goes.

Good Luck,
C

I have successfully set up SSH to tunnel X11 on our B2000 with HP-UX 10.20. Using Exceed on the PC in passive mode, I am able to run individual X11 applications from the command line of the SSH telnet client. However, interacting this way is not nearly as nice as the CDE interface, with the file manager and the toolbars and all. Is there a way to get the CDE interface up and running from the telnet command line, or perhaps some reasonable approximation?

Thanks in advance for any help anyone can provide.

If I understand correctly you cannot use XDMCP broadcast to find hosts. XDMCP uses UDP and SSH only does TCP.
