    <description>&lt;P&gt;Yes, you are right in theory, this is what is HA for.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;But I am not sure that if failover occured during a long runner process (not completed yet) new node can take over the process from where it left ? (sounds hard) OR restart the whole process again ? I am not sure that.&lt;/P&gt;</description>

      <title>Query for  Active / pasive cluster</title>

      <description>&lt;P&gt;&lt;FONT color="#000000"&gt;Hi &lt;/FONT&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;FONT color="#000000"&gt;I will create a&amp;nbsp; Active/ Passive cluster&amp;nbsp; (unix system)&amp;nbsp; with external storage in production banking environment , for Database server. I know resource will shift from one node to another node , where user will not hamper for down any node--correct me if i am wrong. &lt;/FONT&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;FONT color="#000000"&gt;My query is if one node failed , Database will automatically run in another node or need to run manually ? &lt;/FONT&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;FONT color="#000000"&gt;Waiting for feedback as urgent.﻿&lt;/FONT&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;FONT color="#000000"&gt;Cheers//&lt;/FONT&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;FONT color="#000000"&gt;Taifur&lt;/FONT&gt;&lt;/P&gt;</description>

      <description>&lt;P&gt;I think it depends on your design implementation on HA&amp;nbsp; failover cluster;but normally answer is YES.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;do you use Service Guard to control ?&lt;/P&gt;</description>

      <description>Hi&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;i will configure two node Active/Passive cluster&lt;BR /&gt;I understood that , oracle will run in both local node (Active node , Passive node) but databse will run in external storage .&lt;BR /&gt;If any node failed, database will be shift and connect with active node where oracle instance will be run .---correct me if i am wrong&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Thanks&lt;BR /&gt;Taifur</description>

      <description>&lt;P&gt;with Serviceguard applications will still be available during hardware and software upgrades.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;when it comes to Oracle, as far as I see, if you use Oracle's Cluster Ready Service, in case of killing this service will reboot the node. So , I think ,in normally, your Oracle application instance will be restarted in newly active node. I mean any problem in active node, adoptive node (you called passive) will take over activity.&lt;/P&gt;</description>
