Hi ,

when m trying to start samba m geetng;

root #/ >/opt/samba/bin/startsmb

/usr/lib/hpux32/dld.so: Unable to find library 'libldap.so'.

so i tried to install the same from

http://hpux.connect.org.uk/hppd/hpux/Networking/Misc/samba-3.0.10/

but even afetr that m gettng the same status...

Hi,

Wht dont you install cifs from https://h20392.www2.hp.com/portal/swdepot/try.do?productNumber=B8725AA or from dvd's?

Hi Turgay ,
I downloaded from the given link...
installled the same,,but m still not able to start the process,,
O.S hpux 11iv2..
My reqmnt is want to share my /test mountpoint of hpux box on a windows box...i.e. i should be able to share my /test from a windows box just by typing //10.xx.xxx.xx/test

You can also check the software pre-requsities for CIFS version you installed.

Please post the output of:

# uname -a
# swlist -l product | grep -i cifs
# swlist -l product | grep -i ldap
# /opt/samba/bin/startsmb
# ll /usr/lib/hpux32/libldap.so
# ll /usr/lib/hpux32/libldap.so.2

Hi Turgay ,
On one of my servers i had this library i copied the same at this location and now its working...
am able to start smb now...
root #/usr/lib/hpux32 >/opt/samba/bin/startsmb
smbd & nmbd started successfully; process ids: smbd: 28298, nmbd: 28292.

Now starts my real requirement...of accessing hpux share on windows...

This probably installed it into /usr/local/lib/hpux??/ and not /usr/lib/hpux??/.

/usr/lib/hpux32/libldap.so not found

On my 11.23 system, those are symlinks to: /opt/ldapux/lib/hpux32/libldap.so.1

LdapUxClient.LDAP-C-SDK

I assume you have this? But perhaps the symlinks are missing?

i am trying to share a unix filesystem../ftparea
root #/etc >cat /etc/exports

guest ok = yes
hosts allow = 127.0.0.1 10.1.5.26
hosts deny = 0.0.0.0/0

on windows m trying to map n/w drive by
\\10.34.32.104\smbtest
m getng prompt askng for suername n paswd m entering
kaseya
testkaseya created by smbpasswd -a method...

but m gettng n/w folder is currently mapped wid diffnt username n paswd
