Both are available on 10.20, 11.0, 11i.

Anything EXCEPT /stand can be JFS. JFS has the optional Advance JFS / Online JFS software that allows for extending a JFS filesystem without unmounting it.

What specifically are you needing?

Hi,

you can think like hfs is normal old style file system type whereas jfs is extent base that have record of change like database redo log.

almost admin command is similar but have to put
-F hfs or -F vxfs
and if you have online jfs product you can online extend jfs file system or online reorganize it.
also when fsck jfs you should put -o full.
jfs is faster when fsck and it is recommended file system for hp-ux.

I highly recommend JFS. Our UPS failed once and several servers went down hard. Hundreds of JFS File Systems recovered automatically. However, serveral older HFS FS that had not been migrated to JFS failed upon reboot. We are in the final stages of migrating all of them to JFS.
