Printer Setup

guys,i need help for this setup:

a. pc windows run application, which the application/dbase resides in UX
b. printer of pc windows must be defined in UX server

where should i start and how should i do it? printers of pc-windows are already running with window-based apps.

uhm!!! I'm a bit confuse and forgive me if the reply is not answering your question.
Basically if the printer is a printer with network card then you are able to defined in HP.
To define use SAM:

type : sam
next choose printers and plotters
next LP Spoler
next printer and plotters
next use a tab
and
choose action
choose ADD NETWORK BASED PRINTER/SPOOLER

hopefully Jet Direct are installed in your system.

Are these printers network based, i.e. have an IP address?

You could use 'jetadmin' to install them.

another possibility is to install samba in HP-UX and define a printer to print in windows-pc printer.

Hi

If not network based then the rlp needs to run on the pc and set it up as a remote printer on the HP via sam.

remote system . = pc

remote queue = lp id on pc

these printers are connected locally to window-based pc. and their ip address would be that of the PC...
