We are getting a chance to benchmark a RX46xx system against our rp5430. We basically run Oracle with an inhouse client app (runs on windoze). I know nothing about the differences between running HPUX on PA-RISC vs Itanium2. My basic question is what kernel parameters should/will be different? and what pitfalls should I be careful of? I will also take any other thoughts you all might have. There are some great threads out there but I can't find one on kernel differences. I am hoping that is because they are esssentially the same.

I havent had a chance to work on Itaniums yet :-) But I believe you have something called KCWEB that can be used for kernel configuration. I think it is web-based. Search for the documentation. I am sure that will give you some lead.

Hi,

parameters are similar but on Itanium2 there are more dynamic params. You can set it by kctune command.
You can know the difference on 11iv2 by using kctune. If you execute kmtune on 11.23 (IPF/PA-RISC) it will give the problem and ask to use kctune. ( It will execute too )

I have two difference as,

PA:
hdlpreg_hash_locks 128 Default
intr_strobe_ics_pct 100 Default Auto

You can knew it by making difference between ipf and pa with kctune execution.
