    <description>Hi All&lt;BR /&gt;I want to recover /etc/passwd file from my full backup tape on to a different path (for ex. /home/admin/passwd).&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Would this do the trick for me?&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;# cd /home/admin&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;#frecover -f /dev/rmt/0m -x -i /etc/passwd -F&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;I will appreciate any help&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Regards&lt;BR /&gt;Nell</description>

      <description>Yes, that is correct. The "-F" is the most important argument to prevent the overwrite of the "real" /etc/passwd file. You might want to include "-v" for verbose and to gain some "safe" experience use the -N argument that will print the output message but not do any real extraction.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Above all. when doing anything to the passwd file, make a copy, and be logged in as root in at least two sessions so that you can get yourself out of trouble almost as fast as you got yourself in trouble.</description>
