Can you replace a fast wide diff scsi disk with a fast wide scsi?

We had a drive fall in a HP 10.20 9000 k class series and we had a spare scsi disk, but it is not diff.

We we boot, it hangs and the SEArch, also if we were to boot, it would not find boot device.

I think that is a bad idea.

Only replace a disk with one that is the exact same specification. No LVD for SE or vice versa.

To check on such things, look up the server on these two sites:

http://docs.hp.com
http://partsurfer.hp.com

SEP

Absolutely not. The K-box uses High-Voltage Diffential (HVD) SCSI (also known as FWD) and HVD SCSI is incompatible with anything else -- except cables. Even the termonators are specific to HVD SCSI. You can even damage equipment by connecting incompatible devices.

Thank you for your help!
Sure wish I knew this going in. We have taken it out and the system boots fine.
