I am trying to use make_tape_recovery on an L2000 with a tape library to backup an L1000 that does not have a tape device. the command works great but instead of backing up the L1000 it does it to itself. check out the command.

/opt/ignite/binpa/make_tape_recovery -s $servername -x inc_entire=vg00

Thanks in advance

The '-s' switch does not tell Ignite which server to back up. The '-s' switch tells make_tape_recovery which server to write the configuration files, etc. to.

See the make_tape_recovery man page for more info.

You can NOT do make_tape_recovery to a remote tape device, nor can you tell make_tape_recovery on machineA to go and backup machineB.

Your best bet in this case would be to use make_net_recovery. See the man page for more information.
