Cannot log into the console

Folks,

My HP 700/96 termimal displays the login prompt in uppercase (LOGIN:) and automatically convert every letter typed to uppercase.
Do I need to reset my terminal to get rid of
this problem? How? Thanks.

I hate to sound stupid, but you don't have the lock set do you? It should show up on the bottom the of the screen if you do

hey,

type 'Cntrl+d' and hit 'enter' ...see what happens !

check the 'caps lock' key in the keyboard. u may reset the terminal if needed.

Hai-

To reset the console, turn off the power and then hold in the ctrl-D while turning the power back on. It should beep and reset. It might take a minute, so hold the keys until you hear it beep. (I think these are the right keys; if it doesn't beep within a minute or two, then it's probably not right, so don't waste an hour holding them down :) )

control D should solve your problem unless
caps lock is ON
