    <description>mount succeeded&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;cifsmount //ap02/trans /mnt -U cifsclient -I 162.xxx.xxx.xxx &lt;BR /&gt;Remote user cifsclient's password: &lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;the final problem was the characterset for password.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;we have some strict policies for passwords and some characters you can use for a windows password seem to be a problem when used for authentication from Unix side.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;there is just one more change I made in in /etc/opt/cifsclient/pam/smb.conf:&lt;BR /&gt;workgroup = mydomain&lt;BR /&gt;## password server: the netbios names of systems which will&lt;BR /&gt;## be used to authenticate logins.&lt;BR /&gt;password server = myserver dc_name bdc1_name &lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;and of course the resourcekit tools for Win2k3&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Thanks &amp;amp; regards&lt;BR /&gt;Franz</description>

      <description>when I try to connect via cifsmount I get the errormessage (see below):&lt;BR /&gt; ap00#/opt/cifsclient/bin&amp;gt; cifsmount //fp00/trans /mnt -U fp00/cifsclient             &lt;BR /&gt; Remote user fp00/cifsclient's password: &lt;BR /&gt; Connecting Server: UNIX: Connection refused&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;when I try a smbclient connection like the following, it works:&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt; ap00#/opt/cifsclient/bin&amp;gt; /opt/samba/bin/smbclient //fp00/trans -U fp00/cifsclient&lt;BR /&gt; added interface ip=192.46.193.80 bcast=192.46.193.255 nmask=255.255.255.0&lt;BR /&gt; session request to FP00 failed (Called name not present)&lt;BR /&gt; Password: &lt;BR /&gt; Domain=[Dom-E] OS=[Windows Server 2003 3790] Server=[Windows Server 2003 5.2]&lt;BR /&gt; smb: \&amp;gt; Domain=[Dom-E] OS=[Windows Server 2003 3790] Server=[Windows Server 2003 5.2]&lt;BR /&gt; smb: \&amp;gt; pwd&lt;BR /&gt; Current directory is \\fp00\trans\&lt;BR /&gt; smb: \&amp;gt; cd sfra&lt;BR /&gt; smb: \sfra\&amp;gt; ls&lt;BR /&gt;   .       <description>I had a similar issue when using cifsclient to connect to an AS/400.  One thing to mkae sure is you are using the correct netbios name.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;From a windows box do a nbtstat -A fp00&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Look for a line with &amp;lt;20&amp;gt; in it.  Thsi is the netbios name.&lt;BR /&gt;</description>

      <description>Have you checked this thread, &lt;A href="http://forums1.itrc.hp.com/service/forums/questionanswer.do?threadId=962438" target="_blank"&gt;http://forums1.itrc.hp.com/service/forums/questionanswer.do?threadId=962438&lt;/A&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;I think, you need to install MS resource tool kit for 2k3. It could be a problem with Kerberos.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;-Arun</description>

      <description>Patrick,&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;it looks like NBT is switched off on all windows 2003 servers.&lt;BR /&gt;is this a must &lt;BR /&gt;wis win2003 we are using DNS &amp;amp; AD&lt;BR /&gt;Regards&lt;BR /&gt;Franz</description>

      <description>I'm not really sure.  I'm not a Windows guy.  I just know that was teh step HP suggested to confirm the netbios name.  I beleive I gave you the wrong command syntax.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;nbtstat -A xx.xx.xx.xx&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Use Ip instead of name</description>
