topic Replacing Veritas root disk in Operating System - HP-UX

We are running Veritas Foundation suite on our root volume group and have the disk mirrored.
We have the primary disk with a RED light on but it is actually still functioning. HP Support wants to replace the disk as a precaution.
Normally on a failed disk it would show as such:
server1 # vxdisk list
DEVICE TYPE DISK GROUP STATUS
c2t0d0 simple rootdisk02 rootdg online
c2t2d0 simple - - error
- - rootdisk01 rootdg failed was:c2t2d0
and we would run:
vxdg -k -g rootdg rmdisk rootdisk01
to remove it from rootdg before HP replaced it.
Since this disk is actually still up and functioning, what would be the proper steps to remove it from rootdg prior to HP replaceing the drive ?
