Shalom Dusan,

Ignite is the best way. Hands down, best way to go. It is also handy for system replication and duplication.

When you do an Ignite make_tape_recovery backup and include only vg00 the volume group information for other volumes is perserved, so you can restore your system without touching any of the data.

Regards and good luck,

SEP

I have a lot experience with Tru64. As you know with advfs is very easy to work. You can restore system files without problem. After you restore system files you can make file domains, use the same file sets and restore other files. Vdump command put whole file domain in one file.
Wath is the best way to restore HP-UX OS? Is there possibility to restore whole system disk without tape?
Second question: On Tru64 file set information is saved on disk. What information is saved on disk in HP-UX (volume group or logical volume information)?

On hp-ux you can recover whole system or selectives files.

The system recovery can be done over network or from a tape. Product IGNITE is for that.

The VG, as well lvol data is aved on disks.
