yea it does every 60 seconds.

We do have securFTP so that will work. My client was wanting to use rcp but that would only work with a normal *sh login.

Thanks for your help.

I am having a problem rcp'ing from one box to another as a normal user, however, as root I can rcp all over with no issues to and from the same boxes.

Are there any daemons I am missing?

Anything else I am missing?

You aren't missing daemons but almost certainly you have problems with hosts.equiv or .rhosts. If you will man remshd, it lists a full description of the authenication process.

Oh dear I was too slow. I started by looking at man rcp, which certainly mentions hosts.equiv files or you could try man hosts.equiv.

As per usual Clay's answer looks pretty definitive to me.

Cheers

Ok i think here is the monkey wrench...

We use RSA SecurID access for the normal users... Should this have any affect on it?

I set the .rhosts in each of my ~homes as:

host.sbc.com <USER>

but I think the RSA authentication is holding me up.</USER>

Doesn't SecureID give you a code to input? This code changes every 20-30 seconds?

This can have an effect on access to systems.
