Hi,

Create the empty volumegroup (without any logical volumes)

Then check the PE available with
vgdisplay -v vgxx

The expected PE are always a bitt less because of the VGDA.

Hi.

I am trying to create a VG through SAM (HPUX 11.23 on Itanium server: rx4640). The VG is to utilize 2 x 146Gb drives. These are to be set up as a mirrored pair.

I receive the following message ...

lvextend: Not enough physical extents available

I have tried increasing the max no of physical extents (from default of 35000 to max of 65000). No joy. Also tried reducing the max no of physical vols down to 8 (from 16) - still no change. Has anyone any suggestions? I feel I am missing something.

One last thing ... I also increased the extents size up from 4 to 8 - also no change.

Many thanks.

David

hi
better doing it from a command line setting:
PE size greater then default, i would use 32 and at least 5000 max pe per pv (max PE multiplied PE size is the maximum disk size the vg can manage)

see man vgcreate to create the vg

once created the vg check it with vgdisplay

if you still cannot create the lv post the special files of the disks and i'll give you the full sequence fo commands to use

hope it helps
