Hi,

MSTM is a Menu mode of the Support Tool Manager (STM) besides other modes as CSTM and XSTM.

With STM , you can run
1. Information Tool ( one of the menu options) to get hardware details of the system , its installed components. With this it gives you insight of hardware of the system.

2. Logtool allows you to extract hardware logs/errors reported by various supported hardware components inside the server.

3. Diagnostics Tool allows you to run diagnostics on supported hardware to verify their funcationalities.

4. Excercise supported components of the server to ascertain their hardware status.

Refer following link for more information.
It is always recommended to have latest version of STM installed on the server.
I guess current version is A.49.15 for 11.11

http://docs.hp.com/en/diag/st/st_prod.htm
http://docs.hp.com/en/diag/st/st_new.htm

Hi again,

Wanted to add this as well.

There is a dependancy between server firmware and STM in a server. Hence it is always recommended to have latest firmare installed as well alongwith latest STM.
Hi,
http://www.docs.hp.com/en/diag/stm/stm_upd.htm#table shows the supported version of OnlineDiags. If you've currently got A.38.00, you'll need to update to either A.44.00 (if you have HP-UX 11.00) or A.49.10 (if you've got HP-UX 11.11).

After upgrading, you should also install the latest patch for the corresponding version. The latest patch for A.44.00 (HP-UX 11.00) is PHSS_34286, for A.49.10 (HP-UX 11.11) is PHSS_34166

If you don't have the Support Tools disks, you can download from
http://www.software.hp.com/portal/swdepot/displayProductInfo.do?productNumber=B6191AAE

or go to http://www.software.hp.com and then type "B6191AAE" in the search box.

http://docs.hp.com/en/diag/stm/stm_ptch.htm should show the latest patches (although it is currently a little behind).

Andrew

Now I know why sometimes when I highlighted a hardware and pressed "Run",there was no reaction(for some hardwares can't be run, they are not supported).
Thank you!
