Installing BASH on 11.23 Itanium

I am looking for a complied copy of bash 2.0a to install. We have rx7620 running 11.23. My question is do you have to do ./configure and a "make" on a complied copy and do you have to link any lib in order to make it work? and will it put in /usr/local/bin? I am new to the Itanium servers and compling a shell.

Caution - do not change root's shell!
