      <description>hi,&lt;BR /&gt;I have added some more RAM in my server,&lt;BR /&gt;but after booting, it lost his hostname.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;#hostname&lt;BR /&gt;unknown&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;please suggest what to do&lt;BR /&gt;</description>

      <description>There could be serveral things can cause a system to boot up with an "unknown" hostname.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;1.) Your /etc/rc.config.d/netconf file could be zero byts in size or not have the "HOSTNAME" varible set.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;2.) The /etc/rc.config.d/netconf file is corrupt. It may have a null character. In this case you could recreate it by using the template file /usr/newconfig/etc/rc.config.d/netconf.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;3.) The system may not be booting past single-user mode. Check /etc/inittab and make sure that it is set to boot past run-level 1.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;4.) You may have file system problems. Make sure that all of your needed root VG file systems are mounted. Run "/bin/sh -x /sbin/init.d/net start" and look for any errors.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;</description>
