I am setting up a new rx4640 server running HP-UX 11.23. I am attaching to an EVA4000 storage device via SAN. When I go into SAM to see the disks, all it shows is the 2 storage controllers, not all of the LUNs. I can see them all using ioscan. Is there a fix or work around for this issue?

Joe -
Can we assume they are presented to the host at the EVA and that an insf has been performed?

Best of luck.

Regards,

-dl

Yes, the switches have been zoned, LUNs created, and presented to the server. ioscan -f and insf -e performed.
ioscan -funC disk shows all LUNs, SAM does not.

1) Can you do a diskinfo /dev/rdsk/cXtYdZ for each LUN?

2) Are you using SecurePath?

At EVA5000 VCS 3.028, EVA Disks are not configurable under SAM on HP-UX 11.11

It is still probably still the same with EVA 4/6/8K family... and HP-UX 11.23

Nelson,

Yes, I can do diskinfo on the LUNs, I have even successfully created a volum group. But the client I am delivering this for will require that they be able to use SAM.
I am not using SecurePath, it is not required as PVlinks is supported on EVA4000

Then it is still *possibly* true in 11.23 as it is still on 11.11 -- that EVA disks are still not fully configurable in SAM.

Get intouch with HP.. maybe they have a patch or a tweak.

We never considered it a hindrance since all of our disk configs are done via command line/scripts..

Good Luck.
