logrotate-2.5 Log management tool for sysadmins
Description: Logrotate is designed to ease administration of systems that generate large numbers of log files. It allows automatic rotation, compression, removal, and mailing of log files. Each log file may be handled daily, weekly, monthly, or when it grows too large.

Shalom,

logrotate takes the logs and archives them so they don't fill up your disk.

Big Brother monitors logs and daemons and such and qualifies as an answer to your question.

For log rotation, also consider:

Lastly, there are also hardware solutions like LogLogic (www.loglogic.com).

Another monitoring tool is ISEE (Instant Support Enterprise Edition). This tool is provided by HP. It is checking and monitoring your system and reports issues directly to HP support, if you want.
