No, there is no service processor in a D-Class server.

To install a new OS, just power on the system, stop at BCH and boot from the CD. Make sure you are using a VT100 terminal emulation, this is working best with the install utility.

Is there a Service Processor in the 9000 D-Class server? And if so how can I get into it, so I can begin to instal a new OS?

after stopping at BCH to search for all bootable device and to know the device path of cd execute "sea ipl". It'll show u all the bootable device and u can easily make out which one is CD so try booting from that using boot <HW path="" of="" cd="">.
</HW>

Hi Greg

I m not much sure, but i think there is no GSP in D-Class.But you can start the installation from the PDC

With Cheers
Arunkumar.B

Shalom,

There is a gsp-like card can be installed if you can find one.

But to install the OS, all you need is a console session. You can connnect a PC or dumb terminal to the console port with a console(straight through 9 pin) cable and connect with hyperterminal(not so functional) or procom(better) to do the installation.

SEP

The management card mentioned by Steven is the access port card and in fact an internal modem. It makes the console accessible from remote locations using the modem. On some models it was installed by default (D3xx), optional for other D-Classes. I would not compare this to a GSP (service processor).

This is Gregs first posting.

Welcome to the forums!
