    <description>Hi:&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Well,  what is it that you see that makes you believe that you need to do something?&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;If you have files in '/dev/vg01' but nothing recorded in '/etc/lvmtab' then it is possible that the volume group was previously 'vgremove'd.  If that's the case, the device files ('dev/vg01') can be removed.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Regards!&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;...JRF...&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;</description>

      <title>Phantom Volume Groups</title>

      <description>I'm trying to remove Volume groups no longer exist.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;I have tried the following commands but nothing seem to work. &lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;vgexport vg01&lt;BR /&gt;vgreduce -f /dev/vg01&lt;BR /&gt;vgremove /dev/vg01&lt;BR /&gt;lvremove -f /dev/vg01/dg01&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;All this cammends give the same error &lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;does not exist in the "/etc/lvmtab" file.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;HELP...&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;These systems are a mess, I just got thrown in at it...</description>

      <description>Rafael,&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;A couple of ideas/suggestions:&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;suggestion one&lt;BR /&gt;move /etc/lvmtab to /etc/lvmtab.old&lt;BR /&gt;vgscan -va&lt;BR /&gt;vgexport&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;suggestion two&lt;BR /&gt;cd /dev&lt;BR /&gt;rm -rf /dev/vg01&lt;BR /&gt;move /etc/lvmtab to /etc/lvmtab.old&lt;BR /&gt;vgscan -va&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;HTH&lt;BR /&gt;Dave</description>

      <description>All that should be needed is "vgexport /dev/vg01"; that will remove any lvmtab entries and the /dev/vg01 directory and any device nodes below it. If /dev/vg01 does not exist in lvmtab then you will see the error message but that's not a problem. Do a "strings /etc/lvmtab" and that will show you what VG's are defined.</description>
