topic Regarding dmesg... in Operating System - HP-UX

Regarding dmesg...

Hi all,

whenever type the 'dmesg' command it display message like "can't get the kernel parameter list".
because of this sometimes system hanging.I am not able to type commands.

Any idea?.Please help me..

Unless you are using a different (alternate) kernel to boot the system.
What do you get when you type
dmesg /dev/kmem /stand/vmunix
where vmunix is the current running kernel
Hope you have running it as root user or else you wont have access to kernel memory (kmem)

Shalom,

If you have no kernel on /stand/ then boot the system off a Core OS CD. Then copy the kernel vmunux from the core OS to /stand

After that restore your /stand filesystem and rebuild your kernel to a workin configuration.

Hi,

Here problem is with fstab file.Someone modified fstab file with wrong entry.that means stand file system also mounted with /.
Due this conflict it was showing that error.I corrected the fstab file.I rebooted the server.Now it's working fine.
