Well, function keys in WinXP don't really mean much to HP Unix (HP-UX) but if you create a shortcut with your desired run command, just right click on the shortcut, select the shortcut box and type the desired key like F12. Note that this field is not a type-in field so rather than erasing the "None" you just type the desired key like F12.

The "run" is implied. You don't
put it in the shortcut. So
in the "Type the location of this
item field" put:

"C:\Program Files\InternetExplorer\IEXPLORE.EXE" -nohome

and you'll be all set.

Doesn't work. I get (your string) not found.
I can get it to work without the ( -nohome), but then it doesn't serve the purpose. I can Start>Run>iexplore -nohome, and it works. I just need to be able to assign that function to an 'F' key. Nothing I've come up with seems to pass muster.

Hi Marvin,

1) Create a new shortcut. When prompted, enter (preserving quotation marks):

"C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\IEXPLORE.EXE" -nohome

as "the location of the item".

2) Assign a name to the shortcut, right-click on it, and bring up its properties.

3) Click in the "Shortcut Key" field, and type F12.

4) Click "OK".

I just tested this under WinXP Pro SP2, and the shortcut works without a problem.

PCS

If you cut/paste my line I see
that a space was deleted from
the path in "Internet Explorer".

"Not found" means that windows can't
find the program you've entered.
Use the browse button and navigate to it.
Add the -nohome outside the double quotes...

Cut & Pasted your last -- works fine. I thought I'd tried every combination, but always had [ -nohome] within the " marks.
Using F9 though, won't work with F12. I really appreciate your assistance!
